You squashed the nano to be skinny & added and accelerometer??? No wifi, still using the click wheel? Give me a break!
The Classic is now officially dead and buried, 120GB's 2.5 screen? I'll pass.
You made the touch thinner? Pleassssssssss. & of course you are charging for the firmware updates for older Touches.... Days like this make me glad I'm in the Microsoft ecosystem.
Lets compare shall we?
Zune 30, Bought last year for $99. So far I've had 2 FREE firmware updates that are MAJOR!
So what if it doesn't have a web browser.. Thats what cell phones are for.
iPod touch owners... Bought for 299-500 have had 3 or 4 PAID updates around $40 by now (I think)
3G nano,
Now obsolete, no hope of firmware updates.
Classic... See above.

The suspense is killing me!Sometimes I think that gadget companies love to torment us... Namely MS.
When a new release is looming (Zune,Windows Live etc..) there always seems to be the obligatory "leaks" & such.
In this day and age of "Viral" marketing, Companies love "Leaking" a small tidbit to the blogosphere and then watch as the internet whips itself into a frenzy.
Of course when pressed for more they get all "No comment" on us.
On sept. 9th two of the worlds biggest tech firm wil square off with duleing press realeases
Of course Apple is doing its thing too... But I do my best to ignore them as much as I can.
Each one of them will do their "One more thing.." gig. And it think MS has some awesome stuff planned for Zune...

Its time for the yearly update for both the Zune's & the iPod's.
Once again Apple is changing the form factor of its iPod's. And in the process screwing over most of the repeat buyers.
Because all of the people who bought the third gen nano will now have to go crawling to Apple to get all of their "New" accessories & cases.
On the flip side, The spy shots for the 2.5? 3? gen Zunes show that they will be using the same form factor. So everyone can keep all of their cases and accessories.

Zune Now Playing + Live Messenger + Facebook = AwesomeI recently found out that you can send the song that is playing in your Zune software to your Facebook status message Via Live Messenger & the Live Messenger facebook app. I think this is awesome, & I thought everyone might like it, as it shows how MS is combining some of the best parts of the web without even knowing it! How to below! What You need... Are you trying to drive away you customers?
Lucky for me, I have Verizon DSL & so far Verizon has made no moves towards capping bandwidth. 250 GBs a month? are you kidding me? If a user like me uses services like Live Mesh, Xbox Live, Skype, Netflix or flicker they run the risk of having there service cut off for a year? Talk about silly. I know that the Internets bandwidth is rising everyday & that something needs to be done about it. But capping is not the way!! That's like trying to fix global warming by only letting people buy so much gas.... The real way to fix it is to start today & do a backbone & up overall. I can understand way cell phone carriers need to limit the web traffic on their networks. As they are still trying to keep up with the users. But an ISP limiting traffic? that is just outrageous & I hope Comcast loses a lot of their customers over it.
<end rant> 8月28日 IE 8 Beta 2> FF3 (Gasp!)I've been using FireFox for years, But today Microsoft may have changed all of that.
I was not expecting much when I install the the beta that became available today. I was very very shocked when I began to surf.
IE 8 is now a sports car! I hate to say it but renders webpages much faster then FF3. Most of the sites I visited loaded up fast and error free.
Some of IE features are to just plain awesome. I love the auto-suggest thing for searches. It saves some time when typing. The slices & accelerators are just plain fun to use. The only thing thing i've found wrong so far is that it does not like facebook (Conspiracy anyone?)
My recomendation, try out IE8 Beta 2 ASAP. Talking about YouTube - Nvidia Tegra HD Mobile Phone - Development Demo

Microsoft recently dropped the price of the Zune 4&8 to $129 & $179 respectively. iFanboys instantly saw the action as MS admitting defeat. I however see it a different way. The only reason that apple has been able to continue to sell it’s overpriced MP3 players, is because of the apple logo on the back of the device. By placing the price of it’s Zune right underneath of the iPod MS creates a compelling argument for MP3 shoppers. $20 may not sound like a whole lot, but it can be the “tipping point” for consumers. I predict this to be a lasting tradition for the Zune (at least until the brand builds some cache). Zune + Tegra? Why this is a good Idea
Have any of you heard of Tegra?
If your a geek like me, you probably have. Tegra is Nvidia’s newest chipset for mobile computing. For now Nvidia is firmly planted in the windows camp (Thank Goodness). Nvidia has been slowly releasing bits and pieces of Tegra over the past few months. So far it looks very very promising. 1080p high def video, Awesome 3D interface, HDMI ouput and much more. Sign me up! The reason that I think Tegra would be the ideal partner for the Zune is this. We all know that sometime in the next 2 years, MS is going to be bringing out a Zune with touch capability. If you take a look at some of the videos posted below, you will see that the purposed interface is simply jaw dropping.
Can you imagine what the MS could do with hardware like this?? We can all hope and pray that MS has the sense to use this one the next Zune. Anyways, this is one tech that I will be watching very closely. |
